Mid Life Directions

Mid-Life Directions is a retreat for personal and spiritual growth for those at a time of transition. Theorists identify individuation and interiority as tasks that assume priority at mid-life. This retreat integrates spirituality and Jungian psychology, and provides a time for presentations, journaling, prayer and sharing in a non-threatening atmosphere. Bring openness, wonder, and creativity with you to explore your own uniqueness.

This retreat is guided by Sr. Carol L. Ries, SNJM. Sr. Carol is an experienced presenter and facilitator of personal and spiritual growth programs for adults. She has two masters' degrees in Educational Administration and Social Work and is a certified Mid-Life Directions Consultant.  Her life experience and her training enable her to bring a sensitivity and dynamism to her work. Presently, Sr. Carol is a spiritual director, and director of the Spiritual Direction Studies Program at the Washington Theological Union in D.C.

Care for the Caregiver

Care for the Care Giver: Join us for a Time of Respite

Come away awhile, let us care for you! If you are a caregiver, often you are considered the pillar of strength in your particular situation. We understand the cost of that strength and the burdens of putting yourself at the service of another: the lack of personal time, and the lost energy for other roles.

To register, please contact the
Bon Secours Spiritual Center, (410) 442-1320

Saturday March 6th 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Saturday April 3rd 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Thursday April 22nd 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

We want you to be well and invite you to spend a “low key” morning or evening of personal sharing, answer seeking, being cared for and comforted. We will explore emotions and issues about grief and guilt and the joys and satisfactions connected with personal care giving. We will pray for you and your loved ones, and offer spiritual support to help you in your care efforts.  Please come and be with us.

Change in Care for Caregiver Respite Evening at Bon Secours Spiritual Center.

Due to unexpected schedule conflicts the Care for Caregiver Respite Evening at Bon Secours Spiritual Center will be held on Tuesday, March 16 at 6:30 to 8:30 PM instead of Thursday, March 18th.

We trust this will not interfere with your plans to join us for the March Care for Caregiver Respite Evening.  Thank you.

Strength in Time of Sorrow:
Lenten Retreat for the Grieving

Grief comes to us in many forms.  A loss of a life style or a life dear to me or a job, friends, health, expectations great and small or perhaps an image of myself that I can held no longer and now I have to relinquish for whatever reason.  When we experience loss in any of these or a multitude of other forms, we grieve.  We believe that grieving is a gift, sometimes difficult to accept, and always a personal challenge, but a gift nonetheless.

We also believe that grief is not only a necessary and healthy response to loss but it is an invitation from God and a spiritual opportunity for new ways to understand and to be in our lives.  For in the midst of grief we can know God a new.

On March 13, if you are hurting from a loss or grieving in some place in your life and find yourself longing for God’s presence and comfort, come join us at Bon Secours Spiritual Center. We will spend that day seeking the consolation of God and praying with psalms, scripture and our stories to share strength with one another and to discover a way through our grief to better opportunities and hope beyond our grief.

No matter what the cause or the effect of your grief, there is hope to be had. Come, find and share it with us on March 13.  Your guides are Thomas Little Ed.D and Nancy Narrett M. Ed. The place is Marriottsville and this invitation is an opportunity for you.  We look forward to seeing you at Bon Secours.

Waking Up To Life

This retreat is an opportunity for women to engage their bodies, minds, and spirits as they explore how we create the stories of our lives.  You will have opportunities to play with the ways we use language, stillness, and awareness to cultivate relationships in our inner and outer worlds.  Throughout the weekend we will use movement, group interactions, and personal reflections to renew, play, and learn together.  Bring comfortable clothes, a journal, an open mind and a playful spirit.
